Trip guide

Last updated 24 October 2026.

A trip is a group saving for the same thing, month by month, until the day you leave. Hyperbukit keeps the months, the cards and the group. The flights, the rooms and the plans are yours.

What a trip is

A trip is its total cost, paid monthly by everyone going — the organizer included. Each month is a bucket of money, from the month you start saving to the month before you leave: one spot for each of you at the same price, and it fills when every spot is in. As plans change — a cheaper flight, one more friend — so does the monthly cost, and everyone is told the new figure.

The trip itself is private: only people with its link and password, or an invite, can see it.

Budget
Per person, or the whole trip’s cost — split equally between everyone going, you included.
Saved already
What the group has put aside together before the trip existed. It comes off the top.
Start saving
The first month. More months means less each month.
Budget sheet
Flights, rooms, the car — an estimate each, a note or a link, and who is looking into it.

Planning it

The planner works before you sign in: move the sliders and watch each friend’s monthly figure. Add the budget sheet’s lines as you find prices; “Use it as the budget” sets the budget from them. Create the trip once the dates are right — the dates and the months are set then, and Edit trip changes the rest.

Before the first month can fill, set up payouts on Stripe. A month’s money goes to the organizer’s Stripe account, and without it the month waits.

Bringing friends in

  • Invite people you follow, or who follow you, from the trip. An invite needs no password.
  • Or send the link and the password together — the planner’s “Copy the invite message” has both.
  • A friend who pays you in cash or by bank: mark them “pays directly” in the Group. They stay in the group and are charged nothing here; the months after count one card fewer.

When money moves

  • Each friend saves a card once, on the month that is open, and agrees to the monthly figure until the last month.
  • Nothing is charged when the card is saved. Each month is charged only when it fills.
  • Every month after that, the spot is taken for them and the same card is charged when that month fills.
  • “I’m out” stops it. No later month is charged; a spot already taken can be refunded from that month while it hasn’t filled.
  • Someone short one month? Anyone can chip in on top of their own spot to cover them.

A month that misses

If a month closes without filling, nobody is charged for it. The next month opens anyway, and what is left to raise is spread over the months still to come — everyone is told the new figure. A saved card goes up by itself only within 10% of what its owner agreed to; past that, save your card again on the trip to stay in.

A month that fills is paid to the organizer’s Stripe account, less the card fee. From then on it is the organizer’s money, held for the trip. Hyperbukit does not hold a pot, and cannot take a paid month back.

If the trip falls through, refunding paid months is the organizer’s to do, by hand, from their Stripe dashboard. Agree as a group what happens then before the first month fills.

Excursions

For what not everyone does — a boat, a show, a day trip. An excursion is its own bucket with its own price and spots, joined by whoever wants it and charged once it has the joiners it needs. It is not part of the monthly figure. The organizer adds one from Edit trip.

Who paid what

The months cover what you planned. On the trip itself — a dinner one of you paid, a taxi another — use a shared expense app such as Splitwise or Tricount to track it and settle up.
